At Village Greening, we’re here to make it easier for you to reduce your footprint. Forgot your bag or reusable cup? No worries, we’ve got bag libraries, free produce bags, and reusable cup libraries ready to go.

We're also rolling out our Greener Grounds project, helping you grab coffee more sustainably, knowing the waste is composted to support local gardens.

For years, we've worked with Fairfield locals, businesses, and volunteers to cut plastic waste, repurpose fabric, and encourage everyday sustainable choices. We've donated nearly 1,000 reusable bags and launched a cup library to support the shift.

And we’re just getting started.

Our goal is to make Fairfield a model for sustainable living through community partnerships, practical solutions, and education. With the energy of our community and local traders, we're building a thriving, eco friendly future, one choice at a time.

Our Achievements

Bag Libraries

Over 1,000 shopping bags, 800 produce bags, 250 bread bags, and 1,400 preloved bags distributed to the community, reducing single-use plastic and promoting a circular economy.

Sustainable Christmas Decorations

Our volunteers created 70 meters of reusable fabric bunting for local traders, promoting a sustainable holiday season.

Reusable Cups

We’ve provided cup libraries at local cafes and events to help reduce disposable cup waste.

Greener Grounds Project

In collaboration with Reground, Darebin Council and community members, 10 cafes across Fairfield have had their coffee grounds collected and composted, reducing landfill and supporting local gardens. In the first 3 months we have diverted 2000KG of coffee grounds from landfill - that's the equivalent of preventing the emissions of seven cars driving from Melbourne to Perth!
